Let it Flow

Why the bend?

I looked up at the waterfall and watched the water flow freely down. What if it could be like that? What if it could be effortless?

A river has two fears. The fear of the flood and the fear of the drought. Two extremes. Two states to avoid.

To be effective, a river needs to supply a steady and manageable flow of water so it can provide life for everything it touches. Always staying somewhere between the extremes.

But how does it do it? With changing weather patterns and environment conditions, what maintains the balance?

A natural bend. A steady meandering to moderate the speed and direction. A flow that can be trusted.

Push that river and it becomes too much. Too overwhelming. Too difficult to manage.

Restrain it and it becomes barren. It becomes stuck and cannot move.

Trust it and it will flow. It will bend and move naturally. It will become effortless.
